Tiger Eye is a semiprecious stone known for its golden to reddish-brown color and chatoyancy (a reflective optical effect that resembles a cat’s eye). It is a variety of the mineral Quartz that features parallel, fibrous inclusions of altered Crocidolite (a blue Asbestos) that have been replaced by Quartz. These fibers give tiger eye its characteristic silky sheen and wavy patterns.
